Stolen Dignity. When torture becomes a matter for the boss

Diary     Working life     Bullying     Mental stress

There are always bullies. Both in school days and in the world of work, you can find such groups of people targeting individuals. But have you ever seen this dark side of social life illuminated and described in detail from the perspective of someone who does not suffer from cyber-bullying and is not under 20 years old?
The author describes her problematic situation from a personal perspective in a mixed form of diary and prose. As a manager in a city administration, she has been bullied by her superiors for several years. Shockingly, this goes unnoticed by colleagues and the personnel office. The increasing intensity of the bullying is also illustrated by original e-mails and letters from the authorities. The whole situation finally comes to a head when she is accused of incapacity and diagnosed by the medical officer.
Objectively, analysing, but also very sensitively, the protagonist draws the reader into the dark area of the working world, which always remains hidden from outsiders. She portrays the desperate situation of a civil servant who suffers psychologically and physically under the burden of these acts of bullying. This account of her experiences shows the true course of a phenomenon of our age and at the same time the struggle against an almost overpowering system.

Cover Stolen Dignity. When torture becomes a matter for the boss

»I will tell you about many unimaginable conditions in the public service, exactly as I experienced them. If I had been told such a story, I would probably have doubted its truthfulness. Whether you believe me is for you to decide. I will tell you the events, adding nothing and leaving nothing essential out. Everything happened exactly as I remember it.«
